Science and Discovery

Welcome to Science and Discovery (Year 7)

Vision

It is our aim that over the seven years at WRHS students will enjoy science and will develop the knowledge and enthusiasm needed to reach the next steps in their academic journey. Students will be challenged to see how science affects their life, and the wider world and to understand how they can use science in their future careers.

Curriculum


Additional

  • All of year 7 ecology trip to explore a contracting ecosystem and sample different organisms
  • All of year 8 trip to Jodrell bank to apply knowledge of light and space and to experience a museum
  • Race to the line STEM project
  • Regular practical work in our 14 laboratories for all key stages
  • Strong links to alumni and careers talks/ visits
  • Extracurriculars which vary year by year including:
    • Rat dissection and blood sampling KS5
    • Gardening club cross curricular with geography
    • Cross curricular competitions e.g. photography and science
    • Leadership opportunities throughout the year
